Beaches
For calm water and easy lunches, Praia do Ancão. For a long barefoot walk, Falésia. For cliff scenery, head west to Marinha before 10am.
Restaurants
The best meals are not always by the water. Almancil has remarkable fine dining, while the back streets of Loulé are where we go for grilled fish.
Golf
Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura put more than a dozen excellent courses within half an hour. We can arrange tee times and club hire.
Days on the water
Charter a boat from Vilamoura for the caves and a swim, or take a quieter wildlife trip through the channels of the Ria Formosa.

A set on former orange groves, known for its flowing layout.
Vale do Lobo
Royal Course
Famous for its dramatic coastal holes and cliff-top views.
Ocean Course
A scenic course with fairways leading towards the sea and beautiful beach views.
Vilamoura
The Old Course
An iconic, mature parkland course — my first choice in Vilamoura.
Millennium
A varied course that suits a relaxed holiday round.
Laguna
Another established option for adding variety to a multi-round golf trip.
When to come
The Algarve beyond August
Spring
Warm days, quiet beaches and wildflowers. The best time for golf, walking and a heated pool.
Summer
Long evenings, warm sea and everything open. Book restaurants and boat trips before you arrive.
Autumn
Sea still warm, crowds gone. September and October are our favourite months here.
